An Inauguration speech should be healing not divisive.  Trump belongs to the people that voted for him.  He is as dumb as a bag of rocks.  If the "honesty is too much" block me.

I must stay honest with myself.  He has lied no less than 20 times today.  Could never believe him.

It was harsh and depressing - it sounded like one of his many campaign rallies, no class at all! Nothing like insulting all the presidents in attendance. That tie!?! Good grief!

So Washington & Wall Street haven’t done better than everyone else in this so called recovery?
The address I heard on NPR was pretty spot on, the middle class is failing & a strong middle class is essential to a functional republic. I have my doubts about whether this election has actually transferred power back to the people, but there’s been no time for proving that yet, so I won’t call that a lie just yet. Congress has talked a big game & done very little if not nothing for years. The only thing they’ve done of any significance to me is put me in a position where I have to make sure I don’t earn too much because I can’t earn enough to afford health insurance & I damn sure won’t pay a tax penalty because of it. I fall in that gap none of the lefties seem to care about. I work in an industry being decimated by rising food costs & cheap prison labor that can’t argue about wages if they want to be out on parole… Billary’s Crime Bill created a lot of that issue. What’s wrong with putting the US 1st in our negotiations? The government isn’t a charitable organization there to give our hard earned cash to everyone else in the world, it’s there to protect our interests. US citizens give more charity than any other & most of that comes from people who can’t afford it, we don’t need our government to double (quadruple, quintuple) down on that. It’s funny the same left leaning & far left folks who protested the wars we’re in now contend we have an obligation they didn’t feel until their guy/gal was for the wars & the guy they hate is against them, that sort of ethical flip flop astounds me. What really offends me though is the continued assertion that white working class people are the only ones who are suffering & the insinuation that they should be suffering for being white & working class. Those rust belt towns all have black populations hurting just as bad & that’s why Trump got more of the black vote than McCain or Romney. That sort of stuff really illustrates the racism of the left better than all the alt-right talkers combined.
    .
These are harsh & depressing times, he said where we’re at & that “today” is the day we begin marching out of that long dark night, into a new dawn of prosperity… we shall see, I suspect that may be another lie. SO by my count that’s 2 or 3 possible lies that have yet to be proven because they are statements of intent.

I’m all for being charitable & even generous, but the idea is to lift the rest of the world’s standard of living not to simply drag 1/2 of the US down to theirs because that sort of parity is a lot easier to achieve & control.

What would you have called someone who waved a sigh that said not my president when Obama was inaugurated?
Say racist with me. The fact is Obama was the President of these United States & if you were a citizen he was most certainly your President, so… are you a US citizen? If not then you are correct he’s not your President, otherwise, that’s one lie for you today.
    .
What good does violent opposition do? It shatters the windows of stores owned by people who probably didn’t vote for Trump, it destroys a few blocks of a city we all have to pay to restore. The only reasonable thing to do is to follow Obama’s advice, be vigilant & give Trump space to work, fight him when there’s a law in Congress you don’t like, fight by contacting your Congressman & encouraging others to do the same, issue by issue not just because it’s Trump. Otherwise you are that closed minded discriminatory bigot you claim to hate. The only thing I can imagine being worse than Trump was Hillary.

Many many people said Obama was not their President because of his color. Many lied about him and disputed his “right” and legitimacy of being a “citizen” of the USA. Donald Trump was a leader in the Birther Movement and it disgusted me then. I am not saying Trump is not legitimate, he is President but on a personal level, not my President. That just means I exercise my judgement as you people did. I do not ask for anyone to agree with me or argue with me. I am just stating where “I” stand on Trump. As you did many times during Obama’s Presidency. I read many lies, fake news, questioning his legitimacy. I am not doing that. Just stating a fact.

& what did you think of them? That’s exactly who you’re being when you say the same thing. You don’t know it was because of his color, you assume that because it makes it easier to marginalize them. Perhaps it was because he was so inexperienced, had one of the poorest voting records in the Senate cast more votes of “present” than for or against anything. Maybe it was because they didn’t want the ACA & were stupid enough to not know that Romney was going to do the exact same thing. It must have been racism just as now it has to be sexism, the fact that most who didn’t vote for Obama & wouldn’t vote for Hillary would have happily voted for Condi.

That birther thing came from the Hillary camp & Trump picked it up as a Hillary surrogate, he gave a lot of money to her campaign in 2008.

One of my very 1st posts here from back in 2009.
I’m one of those people that it’s assumed didn’t vote for Obama because I MUST be a racist, I’m white & male after all. I’d still happily vote for Condi & I still hope she’ll be our new ambassador to Russia. I vote Libertarian because I don’t trust anyone in office or business, they are motivated to use me, not serve me.

“I am not saying Trump is not legitimate, he is President " Please read. I am not questioning his legitimacy. His actions do not reach the level of a President to represent me.

          January 22, 2017
          1. Munkyman

He’s not there to represent any of us. He’s there to use his best judgement when considering the actions of the Congress & our best interests when dealing with other nations. His job is not representative, it’s executive. you want representation that’s your Congressman.

          2. Munkyman

Your Senator wasn’t even supposed to represent you, their job was to represent your state as a self interested political entity.

He believes in himself and being successful has boosted his ego way beyond normal. Superegos believe there is nothing they can not achieve and as a consequence they take bigger and bigger bites. I believe he will come crashing down let’s hope we can pick up the pieces.

My first concern is “do no harm”. As is obvious by the pictures on TV ( the March) there will be many to pick up the pieces.

Excuse me but karma works both ways now you know how many of us felt for the last 8 years. Many sucked up and honored the office of President even if they felt the occupant was unworthy of the position.

exactly what a citizen is obliged to do, there is a door for those who can’t manage it & unlike China, that door is always open. I for one am really disappointed that those who “promised” haven’t moved away yet. What’s the word I’m looking for… Liars.

SEC, I never heard you suggest Obama was not legitimate. I understand how difficult it is. You being a member of the Armed Forces for many years did the right thing for you.

I had my doubts on more than one level but never saw proof that would raise it above speculation. But it was the touting of him as a Constitutionalist that most aggravated me. He may have studied it but he had no respect for it.

And this illegitimate (Bull shit). I’ve been a poll worker yes much of the voting is done on a computer but and it is a big but, the machines are NOT connected to the internet. This CRAP about the electoral college is just that CRAP! This process was instituted to ensure that national candidates (president) had to pay attention to the lesser populated areas as well as the places that hold the greatest amount of voters. If it was a straight population majority do actually think any presidential aspirant would set foot in Ohio, Missouri or any of the lesser populated states??? They would spend all their money and time in the East Coast corridor, Florida, Californian and possibly Texas and the Northwest corner only.

Whether I like or dislike the man who is in the office is immaterial as he is President. As you do, I respect the office. However, on a personal level, I feel it is no one’s business. As you say, I have the right to make my own decision.

    January 21, 2017

It’s a personal decision. Am glad you understand.

When I read attacks such as this I get a flashback of others who have hated and opposed the President and our government for personal reasons. They were also true to their heart supported with AK-47s and other munitions!
